To help De Beers Canada leverage and communicate its corporate responsibility program as needed to support the company's growing operation and public presence in Canada.

Scope/Description of Involvement:

• Impakt Assessment
• Secondary research review of consumer and industry research
• Review of existing marketing & communications plans and documents
• Select interviews/consultations with internal stakeholders
• Consultations with external stakeholders including Aboriginal leaders, community leaders, and non-profit organizations
• Audit/Scan of NGOs (currently affiliated with De Beers and others that may be valuable or contentious)
• Further review of Best Practice Principals and Living up to Diamonds Report

Deliverables:

A 2 -year plan for leveraging the company's corporate responsibility initiatives in Canada including:

• Corporate Responsibility Vision and Objectives for Canada
• Target Audiences
• Recommendations for how to best reach and influence the full range of target audiences
• Recommendations for how to best achieve the objectives already targeted for 2007 and others that may emerge as priorities
• Recommendations for how the global company can leverage its Canadian operations
• Criteria for program evaluation and continuous improvement
• Timing and sequencing of initiatives
• Budget/Cost implications

Outcomes/Benefits:

The approach to corporate responsibility that was developed for De Beers has been implemented and has become the cornerstone for its initiatives in this area in Canada.
