HireUp is Moving Up!

Impakt is thrilled that HireUp Technology Inc. has received a grant for $396,896 from the Government of Canada. This grant is being used to support the development of HireUp’s incredible new innovative platform that is combating homelessness.
Paul Klein, CEO of Impakt, founded HireUp in 2015 as a hiring portal for youth who have experienced homelessness. HireUp is a perfect example of how Impakt is helping to transform the world by solving social problems in ways that benefit corporations and civil society organizations. In 2017, HireUp made some major changes; they completely separated from Impakt and are now their own sustainable social enterprise! HireUp has a new website and has slightly changed their description, they are now “a certified B Corp that connects untapped talent to work – that talent just happens to be youth who have experienced or are at-risk of homelessness. HireUp has 10 corporate customers and partnerships with 87 community-based organizations across Canada.”
The HireUp team is driven. They have an ongoing tally on their whiteboard tracking how many youth hires there have been to date and right next to it is their goal number of hires for 2017. Despite obstacles, they keep moving forward. This grant is a validation of all the hard work their team has done. They are a team that is committed, focused and determined to make positive changes for Canadian youth. Preston Aitken has been leading the team and is enthusiastic about changing the way corporations are approaching hiring practices. The Toronto team includes Preston Aitken, Ivana Anusic, Milan Chotai, Cameron Voyame and Stevie Yap.
