We began working with The Home Depot Canada in 2010. We began with developing and implementing a national CSR program for The Home Depot, focused on ending youth homelessness in Canada – The Orange Door Project. We led The Home Depot through the evolution from a traditional community investment model to a transformational approach with a focus on social change outcomes.
The continuation of this strategy included forming a national advisory committee, facilitating a symposium that included youth who’ve experienced homelessness and developing internal and external communications. This new focus led to increased stakeholder engagement, increased donations from customers and increased competitive differentiation.
In 2015, in partnership with The Home Depot Canada Foundation and informed by activities surrounding The Orange Door, Impakt build HireUp – the national hiring portal for youth experiencing barriers to employment. For more information visit HireUp or www.hireupyouth.ca. The Home Depot Canada is now a leader on an issue that has national significance.
